For tough spots such as oil paint markers lipstick ink or tar use acetone nail polish remover on a clean white cloth. For a deeper cleaning use a damp cotton cloth or cloth mop. Avoid oil based cleaners as they can leave streaks that are impossible to get rid of.

It may take several passes to get the floor clean but the mop is safer for your floors. Steam mops create too much moisture for laminate floors which are often manufactured with a compressed fiber particleboard layers. Be sure to dry the floor immediately after steam cleaning with a clean dry microfiber cloth or mop. Not daily though because the repeated use of steam can cause the laminate to buckle.

For steam cleaning tile floors or your laminate mix the water rubbing alcohol and vinegar in a mixing bowl and then add in the dishwashing soap. If your floor is looking dingy use a mop and some elbow grease to clean it. For deeper cleaning you can use a steam mop very sparingly on laminate floors. Steam cleaners are exceptional at getting dirt and grime off laminate floors.

Laminate floor containing laminate planks are not suitable for steam clean because moisture can quickly go through this floor and damage it easily. Try cleaning the floor with a vinegar water mix or one of the other cleaners as described in our guide how to clean laminate flooring. However the intense heat and moisture it uses to get the job done can also wreak havoc on the adhesive used on your laminate floors. Clean the floor routinely to remove dirt and dust by sweeping vacuuming or damp wiping.

Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. For this type of floor you can steam clean it occasionally. Always remove grit sharp objects staining agents moisture or aggressive substances from the floor. If it is dirty then it s no longer absorbing the dirt and oils that the steam loosens and instead is just pushing them around.

The steam can cause swelling and warping of the product. Laminate isn t as strong as other flooring options and it s easily damaged by devices like steam cleaners buffers and polishers. Start in the furthest corner and work in sections until the entire floor is clean. You can use a window cleaner occasionally for spills but don t over use ammonia which can strip protective sealant.

Never allow liquids to stand on your floor. Use a steam mop occasionally for a very deep clean.
